Perplexer (born 8 June 1970 ; bourgeois: Marc Olbertz) is a German DJ and performer in the field of techno and dance music. He is best known for his many remixes and by the single acid folk, a techno instrumental with bagpipe sounds.

Marc S. Olbertz is a trained laboratory assistant, but ye gave in to his preference for online computer games, worked as Head of Community Management and musical director at Wings Simulations from 2001 until the dissolution of the studio and supervised their forums for JoWooD under the name Plex as community manager. Since 2005, he has worked under the pseudonym Vaneck as a World of Warcraft German-speaking community manager for Blizzard Entertainment. Since 2009, he has been working as eSports Manager, Europe at Blizzard Entertainment.

"Acid Folk" was released at the end of May 1994 under the stage name Scottish Pipes on the sampler Bravo Hits 7, the well-known and successful version, however, is the vocal mix edited by the producer team Andreas Schneider and Uwe Papenroth and Alexander Breuer. This version climbed to number 5 on the German charts in the summer of 1994.
The second single, "Da capo", this time from Schneider, Papenroth, Arndt Meyer-Wegner (today DJ Delicious) and Ramon Zenker, which contains the fanfare motif from Richard Strauss' Also sprach Zarathustra, was also produced by the German Top 10.
Three more singles ("Church of House", "Love Is in the Air" and "Kung Fu Fighting"), produced by Mark ’Oh, among others, were no longer able to continue the success. Acid Folk – The Album was only moderately successful.
In 2000, the single "Acid Folk 2000" produced by Schneider and Zenker was released as a cover version of the dance project . The new version has been adapted to the current listening habits at this time. In total, Perplexer was able to sell over 1.2 million records.
