Persona AI Inc. is an American robotics and artificial intelligence company headquartered in Houston, Texas. The company develops industrial grade humanoid robots intended for use in heavy-industry environments such as shipyards, energy infrastructure, and construction.[1]
History
Persona AI was founded in 2024 by a team of roboticists and engineers including Nicolaus Radford, Jerry Pratt, and Jide Akinyode. The company’s mission is to deploy humanoid robots in “4D” for dull, dirty, dangerous, and declining jobs - in order to address skilled labor shortages in heavy industry.[2]
Platform and technology
Persona AI’s humanoid platform is designed to operate in challenging, unstructured industrial environments. Its robots feature a modular configuration called "Personas," which can be adapted for different roles such as welding, fabrication, and inspection. The company’s technology builds on dexterous robotic hand systems originally developed for NASA.[3]
Partnerships
In May 2025, Persona AI signed a strategic agreement with HD Hyundai Robotics to develop humanoid welding robots for use in shipbuilding automation.[4] In September 2025, it announced a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to explore the use of humanoid robots in shipyards to improve safety and productivity.[5][6]
Locations
Persona AI is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and has additional operations in Pensacola, Florida.[7]
Outlook
As of late 2025, Persona AI’s humanoid robots are in the development stage. The company has stated that initial pre-production units are expected to be delivered by late 2026.[8]
