Pervis Taylor (born July 10, 1980) is an American life coach, speaker, and author.[1] He is the CEO of Averent Wellness[2] and has written several books on personal development and mental health. Taylor has worked in the music industry, and had a career in modeling and acting.[3]

Early life and education

Taylor was born on July 10, 1980, in Lancaster, Texas.[4] He developed an early interest in the music industry during his teenage years, notably influenced by Mary J. Blige's album My Life.[5] He pursued higher education at the University of Miami, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Marketing with a minor in Music Business.[6] In 2018, Taylor furthered his education by obtaining a master's degree in Clinical psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.[7][8]

Career

Taylor began his career in the music industry, working at Def Jam Recordings.[9] He later pursued acting and modeling, signing with Wilhelmina Models.[10] He transitioned into life coaching and mental wellness advocacy, publishing multiple books on self-improvement.[11] His works include Pervis Principles, Volume I and II, as well as Surthrival Mode and Heal Forward.[12] In 2015, he co-authored Single Man, Married Man.[13][14]

Taylor has also been featured in Tom Chiarella's book Becoming a Life Coach[15] and appeared in the short film Unlocked,[16] which was an official selection at the 2006 Gijón International Film Festival,[17] and the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.[18]
