History[edit]

PetShop uk (formerly PetShopBowl Ltd) was founded in 2010 with the help of a £5,000 Prince's Trust loan by Adam and Lexi Taylor. Mr Taylor was made redundant by Lehman Brothers in 2008 during the Banking Crisis and left London for Warwick University, where he set up his business at a local incubator.[4] In 2014, the company turned over £3 million and began exporting to Europe.[5] Mr Taylor hopes to reach the £10 million benchmark, after which he admits he will "celebrate".[6]

Business idea[edit]

Mr Taylor noticed his mother (who suffers from arthritis) struggling to lift a large pack of dry dog food.[7] He predicted many pet owners would share these problems and pet food was a "regular [and] predictable purchase".[8] He introduced the "Bottomless Bowl", an automated subscription service on pet food in the UK.

Bottomless Bowl[edit]

The Bottomless Bowl is the first UK pet food subscription service, an auto-repeat delivery method on pet food in the UK. The company stocks brands including Autarky, Pro Plan and James Wellbeloved. Originally delivering his products on the back of a Vespa, Mr Taylor grew his business to a nationwide delivery service.[9]
