Pete Graham (born October 21, 1961) is an American former professional stock car racing driver. He competed in the NASCAR Winston West Series between 1992 and 1996.[1]
Early life and career
Graham grew up in the midwest near a racetrack, which began his passion for racing.[2] Graham began racing in 1985 in the Compact Auto Racing Series at Lakeport Speedway.[3] He continued competing at the speedway for years, winning races in 1990. He would continue winning races in the California Pro Series in the early 90s.
NASCAR career
In 1992, Graham was offered a ride in the NASCAR Winston West Series, driving for Scribner Motorsports at Evergreen Speedway. Graham would fall out of the race after twenty laps with ignition issues.[4] After not competing in 1993, Graham would form his own team for 1994.[3] In three starts, his best finish was fourteenth at Mesa Marin Raceway.[5] Graham extended his schedule in 1995, and was running at the finish of every race, including three eighth place finishes in a row.[6] Graham ran most of the races in 1996, scoring a best finish of seventh at Colorado National Speedway[7] and finishing the season tenth in points.[1][3] The 1996 finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway would be his final appearance in the series.
Personal life
On the day of the Las Vegas race, Graham's son Dallen was born.[3] After meeting his son, Graham decided to take a break from racing. He would later work as a crew chief for several teams.
