Peter Crone is a British‑born writer, speaker, and performance coach whose work focuses on identifying and transforming subconscious mental patterns to enhance resilience and performance in business, sport, and personal development.[2][3]
Early life and education
Crone was born in St Margaret’s Bay, Kent, England. His mother died of cancer when he was seven, and his father, Robert Crone, died in the 1987 Zeebrugge ferry disaster when Crone was seventeen,[4] an event Crone later said “taught me profound compassion,” which he credits as the wellspring of his drive to help others alleviate suffering.[5]
Peter attended Loughborough University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Human Biology.[6]
Career
Early work with high‑profile clients
After certification as a personal trainer, Crone worked with Hollywood actors Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman for five years.[7] By 2009 he was engaged by the Arizona Diamondbacks as a mental‑skills coach. ESPN Magazine noted in 2012 that the club’s medical staff brought Crone on to advise outfielder Justin Upton on mindset and resilience.[8] In 2019 the D‑backs established a dedicated mental‑skills department, building on earlier collaborations with Crone.[9]
In golf, Crone worked with PGA Tour players at Torrey Pines during the 2015 Farmers Insurance Open, helping them manage pressure on the course.[10]
Paul Goldschmidt told MLB.com in 2015 that his work with Crone helped him remove “fear of failure” and refine his in‑game focus.[11]
Shift to mindset coaching
In the 2010s Crone transitioned from physical training to a focus on “mind architecture,”.[12][13]
