Peter Damian Lang, (born 23 February 1974 in Saint Andrews) is a Scottish rugby union coach. He is currently the head coach of the FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy Under 20 squad for the Edinburgh region. As well as in Scotland, he has coached rugby in USA, Uganda, Japan and New Zealand.

Playing career[edit]

Early Years[edit]

Lang grew up in Malawi and started playing rugby at a young age at Bishop MacKenzie School in the capital, Lilongwe. At age 12 he was sent to complete his education in England at Douai School.

School Age[edit]

Lang played and captained numerous sides at Douai School, in numerous sports, including Rugby, Football, Cricket, Swimming, Athletics, Basketball, Softball, Triathlon and Judo. He represented the county in a number of these sports.

University[edit]

After boarding school Lang went to Queen Mary and Westfield College at the University of London where he continued his rugby career as a promising first year starter before sustaining a career ending injury.

Coaching career[edit]

The College of William and Mary[edit]

Lang spent 2010-16 at The College of William and Mary. As the Director of Rugby, Lang played a pivotal role in fundraising and planning and executing all practices, game plans, and logistics for the men’s and women’s rugby teams. Lang also helped grow the game by hosting multiple USA Rugby coaching clinics.[1][2]

American International College[edit]

In August 2016, he was appointed as interm head coach for the Yellow Jackets Women's Rugby Team ,[3][4]. In January 2017, he was appointed permanent Head Coach for the team and took them to a number 7 national ranking and the NIRA national semi finals in his first year at the school.

He left AIC with a record of 44 wins, 34 losses and 0 draws

Uganda Rugby Union[edit]

In 2018, Lang spent time with the Uganda Rugby Union where he helped their men's 15's national team prepare of the Africa Gold Cup, where they finished third[5] and with the Women's 7's national team where he helped them finished runners up in the Rugby Africa Women's Sevens.[6]

Scotland[edit]

In 2018, Lang returned to his homeland of Scotland to take up the role of Head Coach for the FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy, Edinburgh U20 program. In his first season at the helm he turned around the fortunes of a winless 2017 season to bring Edinburgh into to finals at BT Murrayfield against Caledonia.[7][8]
