Peter Charles Iacono (born October 22, 1968) is an American media executive and the former President of International Television and Digital Distribution for Lionsgate. At Lionsgate, he served on the worldwide television and distribution group leadership team for nearly a decade.[1] In October 2018 at Cannes, Iacono announced his departure from Lionsgate to become CEO of TravelCadabra, an entertainment and e-commerce platform.[1][2][3][4][5]

Career[edit]

Iacono began as a senior financial analyst in domestic television distribution at The Walt Disney Company and later as a co-head of the Strategic Planning Group at Warner Bros., launching The WB, which later became The CW, and The Warner Stores.[6]

In his 12-year career at Sony Pictures, Iacono ultimately became acting president for feature productions from 2006–2008.[7][8] Previously, Iacono oversaw the global distribution of Sony and MGM's catalogues and expansion into international networks.[6] His positions included Executive Vice President of Sales and Distribution and a promotion to Senior Executive Vice President.[9][10][11][12] He acquired interests in and launched both pay and basic television networks in Asia, Europe, and Latin America.[6]

Iacono was appointed to ITV Worldwide by Dawn Airey in January 2008, as part of a series of initiatives to target doubling content revenues to £1.2 billion.[7][8] He served as President and Managing Director, overseeing sales, distribution, merchandising, publishing, licensing and the merger of Granada International and Granada Ventures to become ITV Global Entertainment.[7][13] He represented ITV Studios with a portfolio that included Coronation Street, Hell's Kitchen with Gordon Ramsay, Prime Suspect, and The Prisoner.[13][14]

As the president of international television for Lionsgate, Iacono oversaw sales, marketing, global distribution, and third-party acquisitions.[13][15][16] Early in his tenure, he orchestrated the move of Mad Men from the BBC to BSkyB in the UK.[17][18] His interview by Anna Carugati was featured in World Screen Newsflash.[19] At MIPTV in Cannes, Iacono presented Lionsgate's slate in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals in 2017.[20] Iacono also noted the importance of market nuances for pitching shows to foreign markets at MIPTV in 2018.[21]

Early Life and Education[edit]

Iacono was born in Pennsylvania and holds dual citizenship with Italy and the United States.[22] His mother Anna and father Santo were born in Cattolica Eraclea in Sicily, and Iacono's family maintains houses in Milan and estates in Sicily.[22]

Iacono received a BA from Johns Hopkins University[23] and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Philanthropy[edit]

Iacono is married to Manfred Flynn Kuhnert, his partner of more than 20 years and author of The Walk to Elsie's.[24][25][26]
