Peter Pracownik
Peter Pracownik (born 1951) was a visual artist from Bristol. His work was significant in the free festival culture of the 1990s.[1]
Career[edit]
Pracownik studied at the Taunton College of Arts[2] and made his artistic debut in 1989 designing tarot decks of wyverns, dragons, The Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings[3] including The Lord of the Rings Tarot Deck and Card Game.[4] Pracownik designed album covers for Hawkwind after meeting them at Glastonbury Festival[5] as well as for The Albion Band.[1] In 1993 he was commission by the Grateful Dead to make a shirt and poster for their tour.[6] In 2010, his art was featured in a JRR Tolkien exhibition at Banbury Museum.[7][8]
Personal life[edit]
Pracownik was born to Polish parents.[2] He lived and worked most of his life in Glastonbury[1] but moved to Cornwall in his later life.[9] He collected coins and antique objects[3] and was friends with the Pink Faeries.[10] Pracownik died in August 2024.[1]
