Peter Spadafore (born February 7, 1985) is a Democratic politician from Michigan currently serving as an at large member and president.[1] of City Council in Lansing. Peter was elected to the Lansing School District Board of Education in 2011 and held various positions including three consecutive terms as President of the Board of Education[2][3]. Peter finished first in the November 7, 2017 general election and resigned his seat on the Board of Education to take office on the City Council.[4].

Spadafore works as the deputy executive director for external relations for the Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators in Lansing[5].

Early life, education[edit]

Peter John Spadafore was born February 7, 1985 in Lansing, Michigan and is the oldest of two children born to Nancy (née Whalen) Penner and Rocci Spadafore.

Spadafore graduated from Waverly High School in Delta Township in 2003 and the James Madison College at Michigan State University in East Lansing in 2007 where he majored in Social Relations and Policy. Spadafore is currently pursing a doctor of philosophy degree from the Michigan State University College of Education, majoring in Education Policy.

Career[edit]

Spadafore began his career at the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association (MEMSPA) where was the Associate Director. MEMSPA is a non-profit association representing elementary and middle school principals in Michigan[6].

He also worked at the Michigan Association of School Boards as the assistant director of government relations. MASB is a voluntary, nonprofit association of local and intermediate boards of education located throughout the State of Michigan[7]

Spadafore currently works at the Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators (MASA) as the deputy executive director for external relations.
