Peter Stuchlik, MSc., Ph.D., CTex ATI

Peter Stuchlik was born on June 25th, 1958 in Bratislava, Slovakia. He is Slovak nationality but bigger part of his life he lived in Czech or in abroad. The main science contributions are: He invented and developed hot-air bonding method of nonwovens. He took part in development machines for production of nanofibres. He developed many nano and anticorrosion materials for surface treatment. But most of them, he developed many medical materials and diagnostic methods. He is one from two founders of Czechoslovak biotechnological governmental textile research program. He is an interdisciplinary scientist in the fields of chemistry and medicine.

Career: In 1981 when he finished his first University, because of his exceptional science contribution during study, he was chosen by the State Research Textile Institute – Centre for Radiation Technologies for governmental research. His first governmental research work has focused on radiation induced polymerization reactions of polyamide. When he successfully finished this job he was moved on a field of medical materials research. With focus on relatively broad scale; from wound-dressings, burn dressings, across implants, surgical materials, up to medical drugs. He worked on a plenty medical research projects where sterilization was required. In 1985 he became the head of Czechoslovak state research for medical applications of biopolymers. After 1991 he became the head of Czech governmental medical research in company BIOSTER, civil and military both. In the subsequent years he worked for Taiwanese government (in China Textile Institute) as a lector for management of factories producing medical textiles, teaching medical applications of biopolymers, and he made the new ecological laws comments during preparation process. After that he moved for 4 years to the USA where he worked as managing director and marketing director of 2 companies. After his return to Czech Republic he was the head of Marketing Dep. of one big energetic company and later he was employed on the same position in a company producing and developing industrial control systems. In 2007 he put under production the new industrial technology for production of medical grade oxycellulose in the company Synthesia. In 2009 he became the head of Research and Development Dep. in the company KORCHEM. He created there the company’s profile with line on ecological industrial specialties, mostly anticorrosion chemicals and subsequently he developed approximately 100 new products; including nano chemicals for surface treatment and specialties for museum preservation of collectibles. Concurrently in 2011 he became the head of R&D Dep. in company AUDACIO for nano technologies. There he developed new shape of nozzle for production of nano fibers; subsequently he solved different technologies for bonding of nonwovens from nano fibers, and finally he developed new generation of lab machines for production of nano fibers.

Research: During his study on Technical University he invented and developed hot-air bonding method of nonwovens. He built the first lab machine for this technology in Europe. As employee of governmental research in the State Research Institute he developed several technologies for chemical modifications of polymers via radiation induced polymerization. But mostly his focus was on medical materials. He developed approximately 40 new products; wound-dressings, implants, superabsorbents, artificial blood vessels, surgical sutures, and medical drugs. As the head of governmental biotechnological research for biopolymers he developed industrial production technology of chitosan from mycelium of Aspergilus niger, with its medical application in bioactive wound dressings. He took part in creation of the Czech United Rescue system. He is co-author of sets for first aid and for natural disasters. He is co-author of several medical diagnostic methods like measurement of nerve potentials and efficiency of the Sympatic tissues. He gave lessons in the college for continuing education of senior medical staff in Brno. He developed a lot of anti corrosion products including nano materials for surface treatment. He is an author of several methods and special products for museum preservation methods for collectibles. He gives consultations about the solutions of manufacturing chemical problems for large multinational companies across Europe. He is the Chairman of the Examination Board at the KNT Technical University of Liberec for state final examinations and defense of diploma theses. He teaches on the University of Finance and Administration in Prague.

Publications: He is the author of about 50 research reports on research issues. He is also the author of about 100 patents and other industrial intellectual property rights. He gave also more than 40 lectures at international conferences, including several world Universities. Besides, he is the author of several popular books.

Early Life: He was born and grown up in intellectual and technical family. Father, JD. MSc. Jiri Stuchlik was military professional officer, pilot and later Professor of Military Academy and at the same times a lawyer. He was co-author of International Space Law for UN and co-author of Military Memorandum 1968. Mother, MSc. Eva Stuchlikova, PhD. was a Professor on Agriculture University in Brno. His grandfather, from father’s side, was inventor of a reversible plow and a rotary conical wood splitter. The second one was, from mother’s side, was a teacher, director of several schools, and hero of Slovak National Uprising. He participated in preparation and armament of SNU and he saved the rest of France Brigade after battle of Strecno during WW 2. His uncle, from mother’s side, was Professor of medical biochemistry, founder and later the Dean of medical Faculty on JLF UK in Slovak city Martin. Peter has one sister Katrin. After an occupation Czechoslovakia by Russian army in 1968 the whole family was affected and persecuted. Parents lost their employments, the family was under surveillance of secret police STB, and the children were forbidden to study any high school. Therefore he went to take apprentice in chemical company Silon Plana nad Luznici, as a fiber chemist. There under support of school’s director he also graduated from high school as a chemist. In 1977, as result of political tension release after “Helsinki Conference”, the president of the Czechoslovak Republic gave him permission to study University. He graduated from Technical University Liberec with line on chemical finishing of textiles and in the field of nonwovens. At the same time he graduated as theater director from UKVC in Prague. In 1990 hi finished and defended his dissertation thesis about physicochemical changes in polyolephines after exposure to high energy radiation. In 1996 he was entitled CTex ATI by Textile Institute Manchester, UK. He was the Chairman of the Czech country and folk amateur musician Union. In his spare time, he is dedicated to museum conservation, when several museums require from him to preserve their collection items. He writes popular books.
