Austin Petting Zoos and Aquariums is the outreach program of The Capital Texas Zoo and is often considered Austin Petting Zoo. HISTORY[edit]
The Capital of Texas Zoo is one of Greater Austin's and Bastrop's most exciting adventures! Just 20 minutes east of downtown Austin, the Zoo is home to over 500 rare and beautiful wild animals. The Capital of Texas Zoo is the largest and fastest growing zoo in Central Texas. We have over 400 family members who buy a yearly family membership, so they can visit numerous times throughout the year, the zoo became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.[2][circular reference] Today, the rescue zoo is a permanent home to mostly exotic animals that were rescued from or unwanted by their owners, animals from other zoos and sanctuaries, and animals who were awarded protection through the judicial system.

LAND USAGE[edit]
The Capital Texas Zoo owns 30 acres of land. Currently, 16 acres have been developed and house the Zoo's animal collection. The additional acres will be used to allow expansion of the zoo as needs change.
