Phi Beta Epsilon (ΦΒΕ) is a Philippine professional engineering fraternity founded on September 28, 1947, at Central Philippine University (then Central Philippine College) in Iloilo City, Philippines. The fraternity is among the engineering student organizations established at the university and has expanded to several engineering schools in Iloilo.[1]
History
Phi Beta Epsilon was founded on September 28, 1947, at Central Philippine College (now Central Philippine University) through the initiative of Professor Juan E. Sornito together with Engr. Celestino Javier, Arch. Luis Dichupa, Engr. Arturo Rivera, and Engr. Jesus Cordero.[2][3] The fraternity later established chapters at several engineering institutions in Iloilo, including the University of Iloilo, Western Institute of Technology, University of San Agustin, and Iloilo Science and Technology University.[4] Central Philippine University identifies Phi Beta Epsilon among the fraternities and student organizations established at the university.[5] The fraternity celebrated its 75th founding anniversary in 2022 with alumni and members participating in commemorative activities organized by Central Philippine University and the fraternity's alumni association.[6]
Membership
Membership is primarily composed of students and alumni of engineering and related disciplines. The fraternity maintains resident chapters and alumni organizations in the Philippines and overseas.[7]
