Phil Tucker is a Brazilian and British fantasy writer. He is the author of several self-published series, including Chronicles of the Black Gate, the LitRPG series Euphoria Online and the progression fantasy series Immortal Great Souls.[1][2] His novel The Path of Flames was a finalist in the 2016 Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off,[3] and Death March was selected as a finalist in the 2018 competition.[4] His work has been discussed in genre publications and blogs including Grimdark Magazine, Fantasy Hive, FanFiAddict and SFFWorld.[5][6][7][8]

Life and career

Tucker was born in Brazil and holds both Brazilian and British citizenship.[2][8] He began publishing fiction in the early 2010s. His early works include the urban fantasy and horror novels Throne (2011), The Grind Show (2011) and the Crude Sunlight series.[1]

In 2016 he self-published The Path of Flames, the first novel in the epic fantasy series Chronicles of the Black Gate.[1][5] The book was selected as a finalist in the second Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off, where it finished as runner-up in the overall competition.[3]

In 2018 he published Death March, the first book in the LitRPG series Euphoria Online; the novel was chosen as a finalist in the 2018 Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off by the blog Fantasy Book Critic.[6][4] In 2021 he began the progression fantasy series Immortal Great Souls with the novel Bastion, which has been reviewed on blogs such as Cosmic Coding and FanFiAddict.[9][10] His science fantasy trilogy Dawn of the Void has also been reviewed by FanFiAddict.[7]

Tucker has been interviewed about his work in publications including Grimdark Magazine and SFFWorld,[2][8] and has been the subject of an author spotlight feature on the website Fantasy Hive.[11] The blog The Weatherwax Report has published a review of the complete Chronicles of the Black Gate series.[12]
