Phil Winsor (1938–2012) was an American composer, intermedia artist, photographer, educator, author, and one of the pioneers in computer composition. He received degrees from Wesleyan University and San Francisco State University and completed post-graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley. He was the winner of the Rome Prize for musical composition in 1967.

Winsor earned a bachelor’s degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and a master’s from San Francisco State University. He completed postgraduate work at the University of California at Berkeley, Milan Conservatory of Music and the University of Illinois.
Work[edit]
Winsor was one of the early Downtown-style electronics composers at the San Francisco Tape Music Center.
