Philip Schonken (born 4 October 1971) is a Anglican priest. He is currently the Chaplain at St HIlda's Anglican School for Girls in theAnglican Church of Australia in the Diocese of Perth. . He is aa member of the Chapter of St George's Cathedral since synod election in October 2026.
Early life and education
He was born in South Africa, and was education at Selborne College and went onto to study at Rhodes University. Here he trained as a teacher, and then taught at Hudson Park High School before moving to live in the United Kingdom. He contnued to teach at Eastboue College, Bloxham School and Gordonstoun.
Ordained ministry
He trained for ordained minstry through the Scottish Episcopal Insitute. He was ordained Dacon at St Andrews Catherdal, inverness in October 2021. He was priested in late September 2022 in Holy Trinity Church, Elgin while serving his curacy. In September 2024, he moved to his current role as Chaplain at St Hilda's Anglican School for Girls in Perth WA. He was elected at synod 2026 to serve on the St George's Cathedral Chapter.
