Phillies Karen
On September 5, 2025, during a Major League Baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park, Phillies player Harrison Bader hit a home run into the stands, and a dispute arose between a man who had given the ball to his son, who was attending the game for his birthday, and a woman who vehemently argued with him while attempting to obtain the baseball for herself. After several moments of arguing, the man relented took the baseball from his son to give back to the woman.
The incident went viral on social media, and the woman, dubbed the Phillies Karen, was widely criticized among both social media users and the press.[1] The Marlins responded by gifting the young fan with a goodie bag of baseballs and other Marlins merchandise, and he subsequently met Harrison Bader and received a signed baseball bat after the game.[2]
In the aftermath of the incident, several women were incorrectly identified as the "Phillies Karen" by the Internet and subjected to harassment[3], leading to the boy's father to issue calls for people to leave the woman alone.[4]
