PhoneBox is a Canadian Mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) founded in 2011. It operates on both the
Rogers Wireless network and Telus network and aims to provide mobile service in Canada as well as in the United States. PhoneBox offers wireless plans for both countries which include unlimited talk, text and tiered pricing based on the amount of data included in the plans. The company also has short-term plan options.
History
PhoneBox launched in Vancouver, BC in 2011. From the very beginning, the company was focused on servicing mainly international students[1], travelers, and newcomers[2]. These days, the company provides the public with affordable mobile plans with features such as an online SIM card activation process, multilingual customer support, and free worldwide shipping. The services are tailored to meet the needs of an extensive range of nationalities, ages and trip purposes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, PhoneBox was an official partner of the "Student Safe Corridor"[3], the service created by Languages Canada to ensure all new international students arriving in Canada would meet the safety requirements implemented by Canada. PhoneBox has stores in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. The company has Customer Service available 24 hours, seven days a week.
Cooperation and Recognition
On June 17, 2021, PhoneBox announced a new partnership with International Currency Exchange (ICE)[4] to help international students buy a Canadian SIM card for their mobile phone upon arrival in the country. A partnership with Languages Canada was announced earlier in the same year to support the association's Study Safe Corridor Travel Safe scheme. Moving2Canada calls PhoneBox plans “the best phone plans”.
