Pi Network Cryptocurrency
Pi Network is a Digital currency. It is a Smartphone based currency that allows you to download the Pi Mobile app and use it to earn Pi and eventually send and receive Pi coins. Pi Network does not use Proof of work to distribute new coins like Bitcoin. Instead they use a crypto faucet [1] that does not require the consumption of energy to generate new coins. Pi In the future, Pi will be placed on a Blockchain specifically called Stellar (payment network).
Pi Network is currently in over 180 countries [2] and has over 2.5 Million users as of January 2020. The creators of Pi plan to create a Marketplace on the Pi app so that users can buy and sell products and services to other Pi users.

Pi Network was launched on 3/14/19 by three Stanford PhDs and graduates.[3]
