Picrolite is a mineral in the serpentine subgroup, often considered a variety of antigorite.[1] Picrolite is not always recognized as a valid mineral species, and some publications use the term picrolite as a generic descriptor for serpentine minerals that are not asbestos.[2]

It is often found in archaeological sites in Cyprus.[3] [4] In some mineral deposits, picrolite is thought to have been converted into forms of asbestos. [5]
