The Piero Atchugarry Gallery is a contemporary art gallery founded in 2013 by Piero Atchugarry in Garzón, Uruguay. By December 2018 the gallery opened a second venue in Miami US. The exhibition program presents contemporary artists and a modern art survey.

History[edit]

The Piero Atchugarry Gallery opened in November 2013 with an exhibition on Post-War Italian art. By January 2014 the gallery moved to Garzón, Uruguay, surrounded by the Piero Atchugarry Park, a 22 hectares stretch of land.[1]

Since 2017, the Piero Atchugarry Sculpture Park became part of the Garzón Sculpture Park (159 hectares).

Today the Sculpture Park offers annual exhibitions and residencies related to the gallery’s mission. The admission to Garzón’s natural area is free.[2]

In 2018, the Piero Atchugarry gallery expanded to North America with a second location in Miami, US, a 9000 square feet warehouse in the Design District neighbourhood.[3]

Activities[edit]

Since 2013, the gallery represents several modern and contemporary international artists including Pablo Atchugarry[4], Lydia Okumura[5], Arcangelo Sassolino [6], Marco Maggi and Yuken Teruya.

In 2019, Piero Atchugarry launched the PA Takeover program, a series of exhibitions hosted around the world, connecting galleries and audiences.

The first PA Takeover started with a show in Venice during the 58th Art Biennale. In 2020 three other PA Takeover projects took place between Miami and New York.[7][8]

The Piero Atchugarry Gallery attends international art fairs every year such as Artissima Torino, Art Düsseldorf, Art Brussels, SP-ARTE São Paulo and Zona Maco, Mexico.
