Pilar Winter Hill (born 18 November 2005) is an American musician and published author. She was named in 2019 by Teen Vogue as one of 21 Under 21: Young People Changing the World..[1]
Early Life[edit]
Pilar Winter Hill was accepted into the Pre-College Division of Juilliard School at age 9.
Career[edit]
Pilar performed during the closing ceremony of the 2019 Women in the World Summit at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater. In 2019, the Violin Channel announced she would compete[2] in the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition[3] in Fermo, Italy. She won 2nd prize, becoming the first African-American Major Prizewinner in an International Violin Competition[4]. In 2020, Pilar was featured in the second episode of Teen Vogue's The Lead Up series[5], performing for Award Winning violinist, Lindsey Stirling.

A Neighborhood Walk, A Musical Journey was written by Pilar Winter Hill, illustrated by Olivia Duchess, and published in April 2021 by Albert Whitman & Company[6]. The book received a Kirkus Review[7] and a Starred Review from the School Library Journal[8]. In 2021, Pilar was invited by the American Library Association to be featured during the 2021 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition[9] as a musical performer and guest speaker[10]
