Pilum legally known as Pilum Defense Agency, LLC is an American national investigation, protection, and training company based in Denver, Colorado.[1] It was founded in 2013 by U.S. Marine Corps and Navy SEAL veterans Michael Mancha and Stephen Barela.[2] It is composed of a team of military or law enforcement personnel with combat experience. The company’s investigative services include full-scope background searches, corporate and civil investigations, and asset searches. The company’s protection services include executive protection, dignitary protection, uniformed armed security, death threats, and bug sweeps. Apart from investigative and protective services, the company also provides advanced firearms training services that include basic weapon manipulation, weapon maintenance, and shooting and moving scenarios.[3] Since the company's formation in 2013, it has provided extensive protection and investigative services across public and private sector clients. Recently, however, the company has increased its revenue substantially by holding and diversifying its client pool.[4]

The term "pilum" from the agency’s name refers to the javelin used by Roman soldiers to disrupt any attacks on their ranks during warfare.[5]
