Pine Row Press is an American small press and online literary journal that publishes contemporary poetry and, on occasion, creative nonfiction. The press issues full-length poetry titles and e-books and operates the online journal Pine Row, which features poems alongside in-depth interviews with contributors.[1][2]
History
Pine Row Press was founded in 2020 by poet and editor Hank Hudepohl. From its inception the press has maintained a dual focus: a digital magazine publishing new poetry with interviews and a selective book program for full-length manuscripts.[1]
Publications
Books
Pine Row Press publishes full-length poetry titles from debut and established authors. Selected titles include:
- Tour of a Lifetime: Glenamaddy to Gomorrah by Thomas Rabbitt (2022).[3]
- Figure 1 by Beth McDermott (2022).[4]
- Swagger by Roy Bentley (2024).[5]
- Mother Wind by Susannah Winters Simpson (2024).[6]
- The Map of Unseen Things by Brett Warren (2023).[7]
- Busing to Byzantium: Selected Poems and Prose by Bruce Guernsey (2021).[8]
Forthcoming and recent announcements are listed by the press, including titles by Laura Lee Washburn, Roxanne Cardona, and B. J. Buckley.[9]
Journal
Pine Row is the press’s online journal, publishing themed issues featuring poets with accompanying interviews.[1] Issue announcements and submission windows are posted periodically, and the journal accepts work from both new and established writers.[10]
Editorial
The press and journal are overseen by founder and publisher Hank Hudepohl, with volunteer editorial roles advertised periodically.[11]
Submission and selection
Pine Row Press reads full-length poetry manuscripts and notes that it is a selective small press (not a vanity press), offering modest advances and author copies for accepted titles.[12]
Reception
Books from Pine Row Press have been reviewed in independent literary outlets, including Southern Literary Review, Your Impossible Voice, Lightwood Press, and The Compulsive Reader.
