The charter school was founded under the name Love of Learning in 2002, serving students grades 5-8. It would be renamed to Pinellas Preparatory Academy in 2004.[1] The school expanded in 2011, when Pinellas Primary Academy was founded within the same building. This school served grades K-4. In 2021, Pinellas Preparatory Academy and Pinellas Primary Academy merged into one school, serving grades K-8. The school would be known afterwards by the former's title.[2] In 2023, PPA saw the opening of a full size gymnasium on the property.[1]
