Pinocchio (upcoming Disney film)
Pinocchio is an upcoming American live-action animated comedy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It will be directed by Paul King from a screenplay by King, Chris Weitz, and Simon Farnaby. It is based on the 1940's animated of same name. The film stars Tom Hanks.

In April 2015, Deadline reported that Walt Disney Pictures was developing a live action film based on the 1940's animated Pinocchio, with Peter Hedges writing the script.[1] In May 2017, Sam Mendes was in talks to direct the movie from a script by Chris Weitz.[2] Six months later, it was announced that Mendes dropped out of the project.[3] In February 2018, it was reported that Paul King was hired to direct the film with Jack Thorne re-writing the script.[4] In August of that year, Weitz revealed that the script was still in development and that filming was expected to occur in England and Italy, beginning at some point in 2019.[5] In November 2018, Tom Hanks was cast in the film to play Mister Geppetto in the live-action, which would be produced by Weitz and Andrew Miano through their Depth of Field, and King would direct from his own script written along with Weitz, and Simon Farnaby.[6]
