Piotr Walenty Wróblewski (7 January 1843 – 26 October 1909) was a Polish veteran of the January Uprising, patriotic activist and military officer.

Biography[edit]

Piotr Wróblewski was born to a wealthy family of Ślepowron coat of arms. He was born in 1843 as the son of Józef Onufry Wróblewski and grandson of the Vilnius doctor Franciszek Wróblewski. At a young age, he became involved in the patriotic movement and actively participated in the January Uprising - the fight for Poland's independence against the occupying powers.[1]

After the suppression of the uprising and the defeat of the Polish army, Wróblewski decided to avoid the repression by the authorities of the Russian Empire and went into exile in the Sieradz Land. Despite the difficulties and challenges that emigration brought, his affection for his homeland and pursuit of Poland's independence did not wane. Throughout most of his life, he actively worked for the Polish cause, demonstrating a patriotic attitude and striving to preserve the Polish national identity for future generations.

In 1876, Piotr Wróblewski married Wanda Guttry (1851-1928). Their marriage lasted until Wróblewski's death. Together, they had eight children: Jan, Franciszek, Maksymilian, Aleksander, Marianna, Bronisława, Antonina, and Florentyna.[2]

Piotr Wróblewski died on October 26, 1909, in Zduńska Wola. His death was a significant loss for the local Polish community and independence activists. He was buried at the local catholic cemetery and his grave has become an important symbol of the struggle for Poland's independence.
