Pirate Media is the official newspaper of East Carolina University. Pirate Media was formed in 1923, and was known as the East Carolina Teachers College News. The paper was later renamed to Techo Echo as students joined the organization. Later, Techo Echo became Pirate Media's online newsletter, and the newspaper was renamed to The East Carolinian.[1]
Publications[edit]
Pirate Media encompasses a variety of news organizations, including:
- The Agency- Provides sales and marketing services to Pirate Media
- WZMB- Provides campus radio services to East Carolina University
- Pirate Media 1- Hosts a news website covering the latest news, features, music, and videos
- The East Carolinian- A weekly newspaper publication
- Techo Echo- A weekly newsletter delivered via email directly into student's East Carolina University email addresses.
- Rebel- Published annually. Showcases ECU's artistic community. Primarily distributed outside of West end and Todd dining halls.
- Housing Guide- Provides information for students hoping to transition to off campus housing.
- Expressions- Published annually. Showcases ECU's minority voices
- The Hook- Focuses of student and faculty interests.
- Anchors Away- Published once a year. Acts as ECU's feature graduation publication, naming every individual who graduated and highlighting exceptional students. There is no other official yearbook at ECU
