Pixminds (previously E-Concept[1]) is a French group established in 1999 in Chambéry, France, specialised in the manufacturing of computer peripherals : mice, game controllers, audio headsets, gaming accessories, touch screens dedicated to video game applications,[2] education[3] and productivity.[4]
History[edit]
- 2012, Pixminds holding established, becomes the legal owner of E-Concept.
- 2016, Ark is a laureate of the Concours national d'Innovation Numérique,[7] first fund raiser confirmed with Crédit Agricole[8] bank.
- 2017, first prototype for the touch screen.[9]
- 2018, first Pixminds products sold under the Lexip and Steelplay brands, second fund raiser with the Maelo investment fund.[10]
- 2019, Pixminds ranks as third most awarded company at CES Las Vegas[11] right behind Samsung and MSI, ahead of Bosch and Motorola.
- 2020, Hugo Loi is nominated Chief Executive for the group, E-Concept changes name to Pixminds Distribution.[12]
- 2021, distribution deal with ALSO Holding, one of the leading providers for technology products in computer and telecom markets.[13] Pixminds creator, Lionel Chataignier, is nominated for the Ernst & Young Ernst_&_Young_Entrepreneur_of_the_Year_Award .[8]
- 2022, partnership accords signed with Tsume Art aiming to develop new products under international manga licenses.[14]

- Lexip : computer peripherals, mostly computer mice with navigation done though an integrated joystick under the thumb and a 3D mouse[2] with integrated pivot, targeted at computer aided design and flight simulator or space flight. Lexip also develops ceramic mouse feet.[15]
- Steelplay : game controllers, audio headsets and gaming accessories[16] covered with a 5-years commercial warranty.[17]
- Ark : very large (4 to 20 square metres) touch screens targeting collaborative learning.[6]
- R-Cade : arcade cabinets, electronic pinball cabinets, and Esport and retrogaming furniture tailored for tournaments such as the R-Cade Cup.[18]
Pixminds products belong[1] to domains such as computer mice and Esport and retrogaming.[19] They also were awarded prizes from various institutions such as the French Ministère de l'Intérieur,[6] the French Institute for Design,[20] the German Design Council[21] and the Consumer Electronics Association[22] for their differentiated usage on an ergonomic aspect[9] and the use of durable materials such as ceramics[15]. The Pixminds group has been cited as a tech leader[23] in its sector both from its world ranking at CES Las Vegas[24] and its growth and international reach.[25][26][27]
Collaborations and patronages[edit]
Pixminds maintains scientific collaborations with the CNRS,[28] the Campus Région du Numérique,[29] the INSEEC business school[9] whose Ark touch screen install was visited by the Ministre déléguée chargée de l'Industrie,[30] or the École Polytechnique.[31] It also curates a collection of retro games and game consoles in its Muséum d'Histoire Virtuelle, which is open to the public[32][33][34][35]. Pixminds also hosts the European Esport team Valiant.[36]
