Piyush Singh Chauhan is an enthusiast, an entrepreneur, a social activist, and an evidence-based edupreneur from India who is a firm advocate of education and global citizenship. He aims to educate every child and does this by rendering support to the less privileged in the form of admissions, fee concessions, and the distribution of books and uniforms. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the SR Group of Institutions and a Board Member of the SR Global School Governing Council.[1]
Background
Piyush was born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India on August 12, 1992, to father Sri Pawan Singh Chauhan and mother Smt. Nirmala Singh Chauhan. He has one sister, Dr. Pallavi Singh Chauhan. He completed his early education at the City Montessori School, Lucknow. He was very active during this phase of his education, participating in various cultural programs, sports, and athletics. He was the captain of the football and cricket teams, as well as a good sprinter. He graduated with the highest marks in engineering with a degree in Bachelor of Engineering specializing in Civil Engineering from Amity University, Noida.[2][3]
He is married to Sushmita Singh, who provides support for his current endeavors.
Advocacies and Social Involvement
Piyush is a strong advocate for education, especially in his home country of India. He is involved in many programs and social institutions that further the advocacy of every child receiving an education. As Vice Chairman and Board Member of the SR Group of Institutions, he has established educational standards that are not currently set in stone in India.[2]
Piyush has put forth a three-point agenda for future-proofing education, which includes laying the building blocks by instilling deep moral values, believing that if a child is morally equipped, they can face any uncertainty with grace; helping children develop higher-order thinking and working skills; and lastly, assisting them in tackling bigger problems that require metacognitive competencies and skills.[4] He has even discussed at length that the collapse of the educational system is rooted in the lack of instilling values in children[5].
Piyush also believes in the use of technology for education and is a firm advocate of the mindful use of technology to avoid carelessness or its unproductive use.[6] He also stated that education technology, or edtech, is not about the use of technology but to inspire learning.[7] He has even lobbied for social media policies as a way to regulate what children see and learn online.[8] Another advocacy of his was to ensure that children had access to education.[9]
Piyush also believes in innovation in education and has pushed for new ways to educate and mold future generations.[10]
Piyush was also active during the COVID-19 pandemic, working hard to alleviate the plight of underprivileged youth who had no access to education or even basic needs.[11] He even established the ROC, or Round o'clock, service that provided goods and services available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.[12] He believes brands and companies should be the first to really think and take care of others.[13]
Piyush works closely with educating the youth because he believes they can mold the future of the country.[14] He also believes that success can happen for the youth and for everyone when we are confident in what we are doing.[15][16]
