PizzaMan Dan's is an American restaurant chain based in Ventura, California, specializing in pizza. PizzaMan Dan's currently has 8 locations, the most recent being inside The Annex Food Hall at The Collection Riverpark in Oxnard, California.[1] Dan "The Pizza Man" Collier is an annual contributor to the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas. He gained national attention in 2015 when he arrived in his PizzaVette, his C3 Corvette wrapped in pepperoni.[2][3]
History
Dan Collier founded PizzaMan Dan’s with his partner Josh Schreider in 2012. Collier had previously been the President of Operations for Rusty’s Pizza of Santa Barbara, California, before opening his own Rusty’s Pizza Franchise locations in Ventura, California, in 1997.
After a dispute over a property investment regarding one of the previous locations in which investors lost money[4], and near the end of the contract with Rusty’s Pizza in May 2012, Collier was permitted to end his contract early and founded PizzaMan Dan’s with expanded offerings.
In 2020 the company completed the process of becoming a franchise and can operate franchises in California[5]. As of 2022, four of the eight locations are now franchise locations owned by their previous managers.
PizzaVette
Dan Collier wrapped his Corvette C3 in pepperoni to market his restaurant chain and garnered wide attention. Pee-wee Herman wrote about it on his blog with apparel suggestions for Collier.[6] The PizzaVette can be seen being driven by Dan or parked at one of his restaurants.
