Planet Grande Pictures is a film and television production company that is based in Malibu. It was founded in 1993 by Eamon Harrington and John Watkin. It produces short films, commercials, documentaries, and television for mass media channels such as CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, HBO, Showtime, CMT, FUSE, Discovery, Disney Channel & VH1.
The company produced the educational children's television series Crashbox for HBO Family in 1999.
History[edit]
Planet Grande Pictures was founded in 1993 by Eamon Harrington and John Watkin, 2 years prior after Malibu incorporation.[1] Before the foundation of the company, Eamon Harrington and John Watkin met in New York City in the late 1980's. At the time, Eamon was the lead production at Viacom's VH1, and John was a producer of Television commercials and radio. They made a partnership filming a series of multi award-winning documentary shorts for Greenpeace, and has never looked back at it again. After filming documentaries for Greenspace, they moved to Malibu, California, west of Los Angeles and formed their company Planet Grande Pictures.
