Planet Princeton is a local news website based in Princeton, New Jersey. The site was founded by journalist Krystal Knapp, who has gained national attention for several major scoops she has broken on Planet Princeton. Most notably, the website reported firdy that Dr. Nancy Snyderman violated her quarantine when she was supposed to be home because of exposure to Ebola. The story was picked up by national[1] and international news outlets, and the Washington Post wrote a story about her and the emergence of new hyperlocal neighborhood news websites. [2] The news website is a source for local news and events in the Princeton area. Various traditional area news outlets have written about Planet Princeton. Knapp, who used to be a reporter for The Trenton Times, told a reporter the business model for the website has been a combination of advertising, reader subscriptions, and social media consulting [3] The website was founded in 2011. [4] [5] Reporters for the website have provided analysis about Princeton issues for other news outlets such as NPR.Knapp started a second site covering Trenton called Planet Trenton, but the site has not taken off like Planet Princeton.
