Play Alone Records is an American independent record label based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, founded in 2017 by Erica Moulinier and Aaron Grey. The label focuses on post-punk and related styles and has issued releases by acts including Shadow Age, Silent Age, Haldol, Empty Beings, Ky Vöss, and Parallel.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

History

Play Alone Records was established in 2017; its first release arrived on July 6, 2018, with a record by the Richmond, Virginia band Shadow Age.[1] The label primarily issues vinyl and, according to the founders, draws inspiration from independent post-punk imprints of the 1980s while retaining a DIY approach.[1] Local press in Pittsburgh also noted Play Alone’s early work with the band Empty Beings, whose debut LP was slated for release via the label.[7]

Artists and releases

Noted releases associated with the label include Shadow Age’s self-titled LP[8] and subsequent single “Ours,”[9] Haldol’s Negation,[10] Silence’s releases,[11] and Parallel’s 2024 mini-album campaign (singles “Blister” and “Painkiller”).[12][13]
