Pluto Bioinformatics is a cloud-based life sciences data management platform designed to make biological data analysis accessible to research labs across the globe. The platform was developed within the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University[1] as part of the Predictive Bioanalytics Initiative, and it was spun out as a startup by former Wyss senior staff scientist Rani Powers in 2021. Pluto's mission is to empower every researcher with their own digital lab space, allowing them to manage, share, and analyze their data in one place and reducing busy work.

The Pluto platform offers life sciences-centric project management, support for numerous low- and high-throughput assays, customizable and interactive Pluto Experiment pages, real-time email notifications, a fully responsive experience, and fine-grained, role-based access controls. The platform also includes a Pluto Scientific Solutions team that performs custom bioinformatics analyses and other professional services tailored to customers’ research goals. Paid plans include unlimited user and guest collaborator seats. Pluto also launched its free Explore tier in October 2021, making more than 14,000 published experiments available to anyone with a free account.
Pluto's founder and CEO is Rani Powers, Ph.D. The company is based in Denver, Colorado, and has a total funding amount of $1 million. [3]
