Pochin Colliery

Pochin Colliery was located about 3 miles south of Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent.
It was first started in the 1870s and employed almost 1700 men by 1913. Sunk by the Tredegar Iron and Coal Company, it was the largest of their collieries by 1935. In 1964 it was closed due to a high frequency of accidents.
On Saturday 8th November 1884, 14 miners died there in an explosion.[1]
