  • Comment: You've had ample opportunity to read the AI guideline by now and you're just being obviously untruthful when you say you "rewrote the entire thing". Even aside from all that there's no indication of WP:NCORP here. Athanelar (talk) 10:19, 25 October 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: In preparing this draft, I disclose that AI assistance was used as follows: nowikiI hope this version of the article doesn't present the same issue. As reported earlier I had researched the article, curated citations, and written the entire first draft manually. Unfortunately I ran the final draft though an LLM for grammar and flow correction, which is what likely got picked up as AI-generated text. I wasn't aware of the LLM guidelines, because when I submitted my last two articles LLMs were yet to arrive for general public use.
I have now rewritten some sections, made corrections overall and have gone over the entire article once again to further tighten it. I've also removed some unnecessary bits. Let me know if I need to rework it more. Thanks :)</nowiki> Sprucedotterel (talk) 07:27, 19 October 2026 (UTC)

Pocket FM is an Indian audio entertainment platform that distributes serialized fiction and other audio content. It was founded in 2018 by Rohan Nayak, Prateek Dixit and Nishanth Srinivas.[1][2]

The platform uses a freemium model in which some episodes are available without charge while subsequent episodes can be unlocked using virtual currency purchased through in-app transactions. The company is actively incorporating artificial intelligence for audio production as well as translation into other languages.[3][4]

As of 2026, The Pocket FM website claims the company is serving 20+ countries in 15 international languages.[5]

History

Pocket FM began offering content across multiple formats like audiobooks, podcasts and other spoken-word content before shifting its focus toward serialized fiction.[6] By 2021, the platform was describing itself primarily as a community of content creators, and an audio entertainment service serving fictional content in an episodic story format.[7]

In December 2021, Pocket FM raised $22.4 million in a Series B funding round led by Lightspeed, with participation from Tanglin Venture Partners and existing investor Times Group. The company said the funding would be used to expand its operations, creator community and geographical presence.[1]

In September 2023, the company announced that its Android application had surpassed 100 million downloads on Google Play. The company attributed the growth to its serialized-fiction format and expansion across languages and genres.[8]

In March 2024, Pocket FM raised $103 million in a Series D funding round led by Lightspeed, with participation from StepStone Group. A TechCrunch report states the round brought the company's total funding to approximately $196 million, and new valuation at $750 million. The company said that the fresh infusion of funds would support expansion into Europe and Latin America, and growth in the United States.[9]

Content and business model

Pocket FM's main product is serialized audio fiction dramas in episodic format across genres including romance, fantasy, science fiction, thriller and drama. The website uses a freemium, pay as you go model in which users can listen to initial episodes for free and unlock future episodes by purchasing virtual coins.[10]

Pocket FM expanded into the United States in 2022. By March 2024, the company said it had generated more than $150 million in annual recurring revenue, including $100 million from the United States, and was expanding into Europe and Latin America.[9]

Pocket FM's revenue stood at ₹1,768 crore for the financial year 2024–25, an increase of 68 percent from the previous year. More than half of the company's revenue came from user payments through microtransactions, with the remainder coming from advertising. In April 2026, Pocket FM said it had reached approximately $450 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). The company said it had reached approximately $200 million ARR in the fourth quarter of financial year 2025 and approximately $400 million in the fourth quarter of financial year 2026.[11]

Notable series

According to play counts displayed by Pocket FM, Insta Millionaire and Super Yoddha have each accumulated approximately 1.4 billion plays, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To approximately 1.3 billion, Secret Ameerzaada approximately 885 million, and Insta Empire approximately 556.4 million.[12]

Creator ecosystem

Pocket FM relies upon its community of writers and voice artists to produce content for the platform. In 2021, the company reported working with more than 17,000 writers and voice artists for content production.[1] In February 2026, The Economic Times reported that Pocket FM said more than 20 percent of its monetized creators earned more than ₹1 lakh per month and that total creator payouts had exceeded ₹300 crore.[10]

Artificial intelligence

Pocket FM has increasingly incorporated artificial intelligence into the production of its audio content. In June 2024, the company announced a partnership with ElevenLabs to convert written scripts into audio using AI-generated voices. Pocket FM reported produceding 30,000 hours of audio series using ElevenLabs' technology during a testing phase, and planned to make the technology available to its creators in the future.[3]

Subsequently, the company expanded use of artificial intelligence beyond voice generation, incorporating it deeper into writing assistance, content production, translation, and localization. By April 2026, the company reported more than 300,000 creators producing over 80,000 hours of content on a monthly basis.[11][13]

Partnerships

Pocket FM has entered into partnerships involving established entertainment properties as it has expanded its audio catalogue. In 2025, the company partnered with Arka Mediaworks, the production company behind the Baahubali films, on an audio series based on the Baahubali universe. The planned series was reported to comprise 250 episodes.[14]
