The Police (Pensions) Act 1918 (8 & 9 Geo. 5, c.51) was an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom amending the existing system of police pensions.[1] Responding to a major police strike over pay, pensions and conditions in late August of the same year, it authorised an annual pension of £26 to widows of police officers who had died in the police or armed forces and had been serving in the police or armed forces on 1 September 1918 or who had joined the police after 1 September 1918 but had completed five years' service.[1]
