Polity is a peer-reviewed academic journal. It was established in 1968[1], is currently published by the University of Chicago Press, and is the official journal of the Northeastern Political Science Association.
The journal seeks to publish original work of interest to a broad range of political scientists – work that is lively, provocative, and readable. Polity publishes scholarship from a variety of approaches:
- Work that develops the resources and insights of political science, broadly defined, to address political problems, controversies, and struggles.
- Work that brings normative, interpretive, or conceptual clarity to key aspects of political life or intellectual inquiry.
- Work that bridges the porous boundaries of the discipline, especially scholarship that engages gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and class.
According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2021 impact factor of 1.702, ranking it 112th out of 188 journals in the category "Political Science".[2]
