Poplar Linens is an Irish textile company that produces fabric and interior products. Its retail outlets include Tesco and John Lewis.[1] Poplar Linens manufactures cloth products featuring brands such as PAW Patrol[2] and Mrs. Brown's Boys.[3] The company is directed by Ben Walsh, Sean Walsh, Liam Walsh and Colm Walsh,[4] who also became the co-owners of Great Southern Hotels in 2006.[5]
History
Poplar Linens was founded as the "Handkerchief Factory" in 1949.[6] In a print advert published in 1990, the company is marketed as Ireland's "largest manufacturer of Linen Tea-Towels".[7] In January 2002, Poplar Linens was one of the 250 licensees engaged to produce licensed products for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, and produced bed linen, towels and flags for the event.[8]
In April 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Poplar Linens began selling personal protective equipment through their website.[citation needed]
