Portello (Swedish soft drink)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Portello bottle

Portello is a carbonated soft drink that originated in Malmberget's brewery in the 1920s. It is a classic drink in Norrland. The drink is mixed according to the old recipe and with real sugar. Portello is produced by Vasa Brewery [sv].

The trademark has been owned by Vasa Brewery since the 1950s, but for several decades other manufacturers were allowed to produce the soft drink. In 2013 the Brewery imposed its copyright demanding that six other Swedish beverage makers cease production of Portello.[1] Like Trocadero, Portello has been popular to consume in Norrland, and especially so in Norrbotten.[2] In 2010 an ice-cream version was launched.[3]

It is unrelated, despite the name, to the British Portello.
