Portman Lights is a polish manufacturer of stage lighting, established in 2016.[1], with headquarters in Gdynia, Poland. Portman as one of the first in the stage lighting industry introduced popular Plug&Play[2] line of stage lighting[3] fixtures after retro style became popular in design[4]. Portman Lights fixtures are used during concerts [5], in TV studios [6], as architectural installations[7] or for events.

The history of Portman began in 2012 when Krzysztof Rosłonek and Łukasz sztejna created first prototype of P1 Retro Lamp.[8] That time they were light designers[9] and they came up with idea to found a company that will be stage lighting manufacturer.
In 2015 one of the first P1 fixtures lit first concerts in Poland.[10]
Officially company started to operate in late 2016 under name of Portman Lights with two other associates. In October 2016 Portman started sales of products worldwide,[11] in cooperation with first distributors from Benelux area, United States[12], United Kingdom[13], Germany[14], Poland[15], Norway[16], Denmark and Sweden[17]
In November 2016 Portman Lights were exhibitor in one of the biggest trade shows in industry in Las Vegas, LDI Show 2016[18]
Name Portman it's a combination of two words (port and man), meaning a man from the port of Gdansk, where idea of first fixture was developed.[11]
Activity[edit]
Up to first quarter of 2018 Portman Lights had retro style products which all were based on honeycomb shape. All fixtures were using warm, halogen light.[19] All fixtures have built-in electronics with DMX channels, which is standard in the industry. [20]
