Porto Metro

The Porto Metro Line A is a 16.5 km (10.3 mi) long metro line in Porto, Portugal, from Estádio do Dragão to Senhor de Matosinhos. It has 23 stations. The total travel time of the route is 39 minutes and 35 seconds, and trains come every 10 minutes.

History

Line A was inaugurated on December 7, 2002, by then Prime Minister Durão Barroso. It was inaugurated with the section between Trindade and Senhor de Matosinhos. Until January 1, 2003, the route was free for all to introduce this type of transportation. On June 5, 2004, during the European Football Championship, Euro 2004, the section between Trindade and the Estádio do Dragão station was extended to make the route accessible to the inhabitants of the parish of Campanhã, and to create an easy connection between the Metro and the train that connects the North–South connecting railroad.

Line A is served by the Flexity Outlook Eurotram of the 001-072 Metro do Porto series.

Services

On June 5, 2004, Line A service was extended to the Estádio do Dragão station. Before that, it only connected Senhor de Matosinhos and Trindade, and all stops between.

Current Service

Between 7 AM and 8 PM, Line A trains operate at a frequency of every 10 minutes to and from Senhor de Matosinhos station and Estádio do Dragão station. From 8 PM to 7 AM, trains operate every 15 minutes.
