In Haiti, the postal code is a sequence of characters beginning with two letters followed by four numbers located at the beginning (on the left) of the penultimate line of the address and before the name of the communal section. It was implemented in 2003 by the administration of the Haitian Post Office, which joined the Universal Postal Union on July 1, 1881.

Composition

Postal codes in Haiti consist of 4 digits preceded by "HT". For example:

HT 6112

In general, the 1st digit represents the department, the 2nd is the district, the 3rd is the commune, the 4th is the communal section.

The Address Format

Haiti is divided into 10 departments, 42 districts, 144 communes, and 509 communal sections. The Haitian Post Office requires that the country code "HT" be placed before the postal code digits. The "HT" code is an integral part of the postal code, even for mail within the country, for example:
