History
Power Wizard was launched in February 2019, with headquarters in Houston, Texas and owned by NextEra Energy. It has offices in Houston, Dallas, Irving, and Plano.[3][2] The technology originated from a team of energy professionals who saw ongoing price uncertainty in the electricity market.[4]
Background
The goal of Power Wizard is to empower consumers and protect them from hidden fees, price spikes, and general confusion when navigating the energy market.[5] The growth in the industry reflects the confusion many Texas consumers face while shopping for power as they wade through gift card offers, free nights and weekend promotions, multi-tiered rates that change based on the number of kilowatt hours used, and electricity brokers who promise they can find the best deals.[6]
