Prafulla Chandra Ghosh was sworn in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal on 21 November 1967 after the collapse of the First Ajoy Mukherjee ministry. The government was formed under the banner of the Indian National Democratic Front with support from dissident legislators and anti-United Front groups.[1][2][3][4][5]
The ministry remained in office for nearly 90 days amid severe political instability and factional disputes in the state. The government eventually lost its majority and resigned on 19 February 1968, following which President’s Rule was imposed in West Bengal.
