Pramod Confectionery and Food Products, also known as Pramod Laddu Bhandar (Hindi: प्रमोद लड्डू भंडार), is an Indian sweets and snacks manufacturing company based in Gaya, Bihar, India.[1] Founded in 1984, the company is popular for its Tilkut sweets[2] and today operates five showrooms across Gaya.
History and notable events[edit]
Pramod Laddu Bhandar was established in 1984 by Binod Prasad Bhadani in Gaya city of the Indian state of Bihar.
2016 Hand Art Camp event[edit]
In December 2016, Pramod Laddu Bhandar supported the Hand Art Camp event of sand artists held at the shores of Phalgu river in Gaya which saw contestants honing their sand art skills.[3]
2017 FCI raid[edit]
In 2017, Food Corporation of India conducted surprise raids at the outlets of Pramod Laddu Bhandar after receiving complains regarding the food quality of the products. the FCI Food Inspector of Gaya district Ashok Kumar Sinha took random samples of sweets and sent it to Kolkata, West Bengal for further forensic examinations.[4]
2018 FSSAI inquiry[edit]
In September 2018, as part of a regular campaign, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India conducted surprise examination at one of the outlets of Pramod Laddu Bhandar located nearby Gaya Junction. The Food Safety Officer in-charge stated that the samples would be sent to Patna, Bihar for further examinations.[5]
2020 India Post catering agreement[edit]
In December 2020, Pramod Laddu Bhandar made headlines in Bihar after India Post signed an agreement where it would provide catering services to the company's popular Tilkut sweets across the state during the Makar Sankranti festival.[6][7]
Humanitarian works amid COVID-19[edit]
In April 2020 amid the COVID-19 lockdown and deteriorating situation of families dependent on daily-wages, Pramod Laddu Bhandar donated 700 packets of 10 kg grains in Matihani and Bara,[8] and other dozens of villages in Bihar,[9] including near ones to Bodh Gaya such as Mora Mardani, Rahim Chak and Moti Chak.[10]
On 10 January 2021, the Inner Wheel Club of Gaya observed the World Inner Wheel Day on Gaya-Bodhgaya Road, which was backed by Pramod Laddu Bhandar.[11]
