Professor Dr Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya Professor Dr. Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya(DOB- March 1956) , MD , (University of Calcutta,); FICpath; WBMES ( a superannuated Professor and Head of Pathology (in the WBMES cadre of Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal) Department of Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine ,Kolkata -73 ,in 2021 West Bengal ,and was Ex Principal of JMN Medical College, Panchpota ,Chakdha, Nadia District , West Bengal and Professor and Head of Pathology Department of JIS School of Medical Sciences and Research ,JIS University ,West Bengal,India and former founder principal of krishna nagar institute of Medical Sciences Krishnanagar West Bengal since 19.12.2023 to 20.12.24, professor and head of Pathology KIMS krishnanagar and now Principal of Raniganj Institute of Medical sciences,Aundal , paschim Burdwan district of West bengal state
He is a very much renowned and most respected figure in the field of pathology in India, as Indian National Medical Council( NMC) recognised Post graduate / Doctoral level Professor in subject Pathology since 2006 onwards to till date (Teacher NO- PAT-900415 of NMC ); University Examiners of MBBS MD DM phd BscMLT ,DCP degree. He has made significant contributions to the medical community as well in theoretical physics and astronomy, space science through his research, publications, in international journals of high repute,He was examiners for undergraduates (MBBS,/BscMLT/,Bsc Nursing ), Post Graduate( DCP,/ DTMH /,DLT) and Doctoral level teaching,(MD) ; was 22 MD pathology thesis guide and 29 MD Pathology thesis adjudicators, 7 PhD thesis adjudicator of West Bengal University of Health Sciences ( WBUHS) and of University of Calcutta, University paper setters and moderator of MBBS/ MD/ DM/ Mch/ PhD University examination papers, MBBS/,DCP/ MD Pathology examiners of WBUHS and of others universities outside state of West Bengal, in the country India and playing administrative roles as Head of department of Pathology , Special secretary ( on detailment posting) to government of West Bengal,as a member Secretary of Board of Studies of West Bengal University of Health sciences( WBUHS ) Kolkata and many committee members of medical institutions where he worked. Dr. Bhattacharya has a highly impressive academic background since his childhood in a refugee family from east pakistan in 1947 and he has received numerous awards, certificates and other accolades for his works . Dr. Bhattacharya has also held positions as an Associate editor, editorial board member, external peer reviewers of many international and Indian indexed journals and he was external and internal examiner for various universities and courses in pathology including PhD examiners. Bhattacharya is a prolific researcher, with over 337 publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals, including high-impact journals like Science, Nature, The Lancet, BMJ,JAMA,RSBMT, Plos, and STM uk . Bhattacharya is retired from his position as a Professor and Head of the Pathology Department at Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine from West Bengal Medical Education Services and also as a Principal of three undergraduate new medical colleges in West Bengal
