Prasads Multiplex is an Indian multiplex theater in Hyderabad, Telangana.[1][2] It is India's third IMAX theater.[3][4][5] In November 2014, when Hollywood film Interstellar opened in theatres, Prasads was the only IMAX screen in India where the space drama was watched on 70mm film.[6][7] It was earlier the largest IMAX 3D screen in the world with the Sydney IMAX Theater (123 x 97 ft) having the largest IMAX screen.[8]

Description

The multiplex is a centrally air-conditioned venue with an area of 235,000 sq ft (21,800 m2). It has six screens, a food court and a shopping mall covering two levels of the complex.[9][10]

The IMax theater' screen is 72 feet high and 95 feet wide. It has 635 seats with a 12,000 watt sound system.[citation needed]

History

Prasads Multiplex was launched initially as Prasad IMAX on 25 July 2003 by South India LV Prasad Group.[11][12][13] The IMAX screen no 6 (now called PCX) is the biggest in India- 64ft x101.6ft and 630 seater auditorium.[14] Screen 6 was previously a 3D IMAX 70mm until 2014.
