Prashant Murty is a Cinematographer, Photographer, Director and Editor. He has done his Masters in Mechatronics from Amity University, Noida in the year 2014 and later took up Photography & Cinematography as a profession purely for the love of it. He has been working with a number of brands shooting Digital Ad-films, Wildlife videos, Shortfilms, Music videos, Corporate videos and Documentaries. His clientele includes Peter England (brand), IDBI Federal Life Insurance, Lodha Group, The Viral Fever, Big Bazaar, PNB MetLife India Insurance Company, Durian Furniture, Asian Paints Ltd, to name a few. He has also done cameos as an Actor in a few short-films.
He was awarded by Mumbai Metro for his short-film Sleeper.
Early life and Education[edit]
Prashant was born in Raipur in the year 1990. In class 7th, his father bought a Film Camera, which fascinated him like no other toy for the years to come. After he finished his schooling, he joined an engineering college in Bhopal, during which he kept experimenting with his Cameras. It is known by his room-mates that he had the knack to stay awake the entire night shooting, experimenting and understanding his camera. This helped him understand the concepts of Photography. He later joined Amity University, Noida to pursue his Masters degree in Mechatronics to understand the working of Digital Cameras in detail. During the course, he also got a chance to study at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi as a Junior Research Fellow for around 5 months. After finishing his tenure at Amity University, Prashant decided to pursue a career in Photography & Cinematography.
He got his first Professional break when he got a chance to assist Subbiah Nalla Muthu - a 4 time National Award Film-maker, known for his Wildlife Films across the World. He assisted him for a Wildlife Documentary project in Ranthambhore National Park where he learnt Cinematography skills from him. Since then, he has been in Mumbai working as a Freelance Cinematographer shooting Digital Ad-films, Shortfilms, Documentaries, Music videos and much more.
